Is This Normal?

The chaos that is the Kerbers

01–January 2009

Thursday, Jan. 1
01.01.09We slept in until almost 8:00 and stayed in our jammies for a couple hours while we vegged watching “The Polar Express” and playing with all of our new Christmas toys.

 Friday, Jan. 2
01.02.09The house is now de-Christmased.  The tree is down, the decorations are stored away, and things are getting back to normal.  Now if we can just find some room for all those new toys…

Saturday, Jan. 3
01.03.09Dave and I started cleaning and organizing the storage room in the basement.  It was a long overdue project, and we’re not completely finished, but we got a lot done and felt a real sense of accomplishment.

 Sunday, Jan. 4
01.04.09Emma was all decked out in Illini gear for a basketball game…and bellied up to the bar placing her order.  She’s such a climber that she moves the chair over and gets up there on her own.

Monday, Jan. 5
01.05.09Off to Danielle’s!  The kids were so excited to go and play with their friends today.  We’re so lucky that we take them to the best babysitter in the whole world!!

Tuesday, Jan. 6

01.06.09Playing with Daddy on the couch brought so much fun tonight.  I hope these silly, happy times will stay in my memory forever!

Wednesday, Jan. 7
01.07.09Emma absolutely adores her new kitchen.  It’s a wonderful thing to see her imagination and creativity begin to emerge.  Our baby isn’t a baby anymore.

Thursday, Jan. 8
01.08.09As soon as we got home from school and Danielle’s, Ben headed for his Story Reader and listened to about 5 books while I made dinner.  What a perfect babysitter it is!

Friday, Jan. 9
01.09.09No one can sooth a crabby toddler like her Daddy.  It’s official…he’s over the moon for that little girl, and she just may have him wrapped around her little finger.

Saturday, Jan. 10
01.10.09At Aunt Theresa’s birthday party, Emma had a blast playing blocks with Aunt Mary and Bella.  We need to get together with our family more often.

Sunday, Jan. 11

01.11.09Another fun, lazy day of playing at home.  I can almost hear the giggles when I look at this picture.  It was pure fun.

Monday, Jan. 12

01.12.09Snow!  Our hopes for building a snowman were dashed again, when the expected snowstorm fizzled out before it hit us.

Tuesday, Jan. 13
01.13.09The warmest part of today was definitely bathtime.  With temps barely getting out of the single digits, it was tough to drag yourself out of the house!

Wednesday, Jan. 14
01.14.09Snow day!  The kids and I were all home from school and daycare today, and Emma took advantage of it with a 3 hour nap!  That girl loves her sleep!

Thursday, Jan. 15
01.05.09Frigid temperatures got school closed again today.  The kids and I were home trying to stay warm.  As you can see in this picture, it’s unbareable out there!!

Friday, Jan. 16
01.16.09This was the view out my window on the flight into Dallas…the first leg of my trip to Vegas.  I knew this gorgeous view was a sign that an awesome weekend was coming.

Saturday, Jan. 17
01.17.09Vegas, Baby!  Our group had one more (Elizabeth the photographer) but the five of us are the Ironmen through and through.

Sunday, Jan. 18

01.18.09Old school Vegas…downtown.  We were a smaller group by Sunday, but we still had a great time seeing the sights of Vegas and playing some Super Jackpot Party!

Monday, Jan. 19
01.19.09Ah…home again, home again, jiggity jig.  It was a great trip, but there is sure something wonderful about walking back into your own house and sleeping in your own bed!

Tuesday, Jan. 20

01.20.09What an historic day for America.  Watching our students fixed in front of the TV really said something to me…about them, of course, but about our new President, too.

Wednesday, Jan. 21
01.21.09Emma cannot get enough of climbing up on the chair in front of our counter.  She thinks she’s such a big girl, even though she obviously can’t master everything!

Thursday, Jan. 22
01.22.09Even though we’ve only had the laptop for about 3 months, Dave and I are both addicted to the convenience of wireless.  I truly don’t know how we survived before!!

Friday, Jan. 23
01.23.09Friday night means movie night in the Kerber house, and Emma is starting to enjoy this tradition as much as the rest of us do.

Saturday, Jan. 24
01.24.09I-L-L   I-N-I!  We got last minute tickets to the Wisconsin game from one of my asst. principals.  It was a great day spent with Dave.

 Sunday, Jan. 25
01.25.09After nap, the entire family went to the public library for some fun.  Their Discovery Room is a huge hit with both kids, and we always like to get new books.

Monday, Jan. 26

01.26.09Books, books, and more books!  These kids cannot get enough, and anytime a book is being read, you’re sure to find both of them glued to it.

Tuesday, Jan. 27
01.27.09Our little girl is getting so grown up and independent…even if the shoes are on the wrong feet!  We literally watch her learn new things every day.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

01.28.09The kids love this silly game, which makse animal sounds or music when you move around on it.  It’s Dance, Dance Revolution for kids!

Thursday, Jan. 29

01.29.09My most girlie vice…did my nails tonight.  I still love having my nails look good, even though it’s tougher to find the time to get them done.

Friday, Jan. 30

01.30.09Ben has so much fun at Danielle’s.  She’s brilliant…letting the kids play with snow inside was such a great idea.  Talk about your win-win situation!

Saturday, Jan. 31
01.31.09Date night with Dave.  We saw Gran Torino and both loved it!  It’s not often that we both love a movie, so that was a nice treat.
